Frequently Asked Questions

Sucking/Being Sucked

How safe is sucking a guy off, or being sucked?

Sucking or being sucked is a low risk for giving or getting HIV. There are case reports and individual experiences that suggest HIV can be transmitted through oral sex, but is less likely than by fucking or being fucked. No one really knows
if sucking and swallowing is riskier.

STDs like syphilis, gonorrhea, Chlamydia and herpes are definitely transmitted through oral sex. Sucking and being sucked likely contributed to Portland’s recent increases in syphilis cases. Syphilis, like gonorrhea and Chlamydia, are easy to diagnose and treat, when caught early. When one or both partners has HIV and an STD, HIV is more likely to be spread.

Not sucking or getting sucked is the best way to prevent STDs. Wrapping it up before you suck can reduce your chance of getting or giving STDs. Whether you wrap it or not, getting tested (and treated) for STDs every 3 months is recommended. Thorough STD testing includes throat testing for gonorrhea, rectal testing for gonorrhea and Chlamydia, urine testing for gonorrhea and Chlamydia and blood tests for herpes, syphilis and HIV.
